The slow but accelerating death of department stores. BBC here. Some of these stores were used as cash generators by their owners. They borrowed against the value of the store, took cash out and failed to invest. Customers were taken for granted. They failed to change the nature of their retail offering for a new era and a new retail environment. They deserve to go under.
